About Scott Ward

Effective real estate marketing demands more than a flurry of brochures, ads, videos, websites, emails, social media or open houses. Only deep insight and strategic marketing attracts the attention of buyers who recognize properties that reflect their desires and complement their lifestyles. 

How did I gain that insight? – from a degree in visual communication design, more than two decades’ experience helping businesses and nonprofits build strong brands and meaningful relationships with stakeholders, and 20+ years’ experience in luxury home sales. How do you benefit from my insight and expertise? I can identify and effectively communicate the tangible and intangible characteristics that make your home uniquely valuable to the right buyers.

In a world in which real estate sales is all-too-often reduced to an algorithm, I offer a high-touch approach that is not merely transactional, but strategic and marketing-driven, informed by deep knowledge of the luxury marketplace and deep understanding of the desires and demands of buyers most likely to purchase a one-of-a-kind residence or hard-to-sell luxury home. And by providing smart, innovative marketing solutions, I often exceed expectations for price, terms and market time. It’s one reason frustrated sellers often engage me to energize a listing languishing on the market. 

Clients have come to rely on my keen eye for design, along with my passion for real estate and my experience buying, renovating and selling homes. I renovated my own single-family home in Lakeview and a pre-War condominium on Lake Shore Drive. More recently, during a brief sabbatical, I honored a three-generation-long tradition by temporarily joining our family-run construction enterprise. Working hands-on with blueprints, bids and budgets, sourcing materials, scheduling tradespeople, and overseeing the quality and timeliness of work for complex projects enhanced my understanding of property development and construction management – and better equipped me to help clients prepare a home for sale, envision the possibilities of a home they may purchase and successfully navigate their new construction or renovation projects.

When I’m not working or volunteering, my off-hours are driven by my dedication to all things design, my attention to detail, and my love of working with my hands. I enjoy building websites, photography, restoring my 1970 Karmann Ghia, cooking and sharing ethnic cuisine with family and friends. I crave the sensations and new perspectives that travel provides, love exploring the world’s great museums, and, closer to home, studying the historical events that influenced my family’s history – from pioneer trails to the present day. In spite of our colder winters, I love living in Chicago, but dream of designing and building a home in the southwest.
